Job summary

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Nursing and three years of related experience required.
• Oncology nursing experience preferred.
• Current RN license by the Alabama Board of Nursing required.
• CPR certification required or must be obtained within 30 days of employment.
• OCN certification within 18 months of hire required.
• ONN certification within three years of hire required.

Responsibilities

• Serve as oncology population-specific clinician and navigator across the UAB Health System.
• Act as a patient advocate providing individualized assistance to oncology patients, families and caregivers.
• Utilize the nursing process in assessment of physical, psychological and social needs of the patient.
• Serve as a liaison with the multidisciplinary care team.
• Provide education and resources to aid in timely access to appropriate level of care, increased utilization of preventive services and promotion of patient self-management with informed and shared decision-making.
