Job summary

University of Iowa Health Care in Iowa City is seeking a Nurse Clinician/Nurse Navigator to function as a clinical nurse expert within the Oncology - Inpatient unit and as care coordinator for the assigned patient population, facilitating seamless transitions across the continuum of care.

You will collaborate with an interdisciplinary team, provide direct nursing care, education reinforcement, and guide cost-effective resources while supporting patient/family education and quality improvement.

Qualifications

• A Baccalaureate degree in Nursing.
• Minimum of 3 years of recent clinical nursing experience.
• Current license to practice nursing in Iowa, or the ability to obtain licensure by the date of hire.
• Experience working with an interdisciplinary team.
• Excellent organizational skills, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency in computer applications including Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with nursing staff to develop and review patient care standards.
• Provide direct nursing care and coordinate patient care across disciplines.
• Serve as a clinical resource or consultant for a specific patient population.
• Provide leadership for direct patient care programs and staff education.
• Design and implement patient/family education activities and monitor care delivered.
• Incorporate roles of patient advocate, educator, and quality manager.
