Job Description
The Oncology Nurse Clinician reflects NM's mission, vision, and values, adheres to our Code of Ethics and Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies and standards. This role operates in a multidisciplinary environment requiring exceptional interpersonal skills to establish effective relationships with patients, physicians, and staff. The clinician coordinates multidisciplinary care using the nursing process.

Responsibilities:

  1. Assess and reassess patients and families for ongoing care needs, considering high-risk criteria, and initiate timely referrals.
  2. Collect and analyze data for new patients, coordinate care and appointments, and schedule appropriately.
  3. Collaborate with patients, families, physicians, and staff to coordinate multidisciplinary clinics and develop care plans.
  4. Serve as a resource for non-clinical staff regarding prospective patients and program information.
  5. Make clinical decisions based on critical thinking and rationale.
  6. Perform patient care to optimize safety and minimize errors.
  7. Identify learning needs and support systems, making referrals as needed.
  8. Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatments, and tests.
  9. Assist with care transitions and provider communication.
  10. Communicate effectively and work cooperatively with team members, respecting other disciplines.
  11. Delegate appropriately to meet patient needs promptly.
  12. Promote a positive work environment and engage in personal development.
  13. Support new employees and contribute to their growth.
  14. Maintain current clinical knowledge through ongoing education and feedback.
  15. Show creativity and flexibility amid change.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing required for all hires after 01/01/2011
  • Current nursing experience within the past 5 years
  • BLS Certification

Preferred:

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing
  • Oncology Certified Nurse
