Job summary

Mercyhealth in Rockford, IL is seeking a Medical Assistant for Oncology to support daily clinic operations. You will room patients, collect assessment data, assist in examinations, labs, and procedures, and coordinate referrals.

The role requires completion of an ABHES/CAAHEP accredited program or equivalent, CMA/RMA/CCMA certification, CPR/BLS within 90 days, and a patient-focused approach in a fast-paced setting; 32 hours weekly, day shifts, with competitive benefits.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a medical assistant program ABHES/CAAHEP or regionally/nationally accredited
• Clinical rotation experience preferred
• CPR/BLS certification within 90 days

Responsibilities

• Room patients and collect assessment data
• Assist in examinations and clinic procedures
• Support laboratory procedures and screening tests
• Answer calls and triage patient inquiries
• Schedule appointments and manage reminders
• Register patients and verify records are up to date
• Coordinate patient referrals with insurance and other physicians
• Collect payments and issue receipts
• Maintain patient charts and order supplies
