Job summary

Florida Oncology and Hematology is seeking a Medical Assistant to support physicians in the office with phlebotomy, lab testing, quality control, and instrumentation maintenance. The role involves preparing specimens, documenting results, and assisting with procedures in a fast-paced oncology setting.

The candidate will perform venipuncture, manage patient records in Onco/EMR, and ensure regulatory compliance while supporting multiple clinic locations as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• BLS certification required.
• One year of medical assistant experience in a clinic or physician’s office with venipuncture.
• Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle for travel to other clinic locations as needed.

Responsibilities

• Assist physicians with medical procedures in office.
• Perform phlebotomy and laboratory testing with quality control.
• Maintain logs and equipment records per regulatory guidelines.
• Prepare samples and slides for evaluation.
• Document results in EMR and communicate findings to physicians.
• Coordinate outside testing and referrals as ordered.
• Provide patient care including vital signs and PHQ9 screening as requested.
• Follow safety guidelines and ensure cleanliness of the lab.
