Job summary

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Certificate from an accredited Medical Assistant program preferred.
• Minimum five years of medical assistant or nursing assistant experience.
• Phlebotomy experience preferred.
• Current CPR certification required.
• Certified Medical Assistant preferred; state regulations may require certifications.

Responsibilities

• Escort patients to and from exam rooms and treatment areas.
• Record vital signs, height, weight, allergies, and medication changes.
• Obtain patient records and verify consent prior to treatment.
• Prepare and stock exam rooms and assist physicians with exams.
• Administer injections and maintain infection control in treatment rooms.
• Schedule tests, procedures and admissions; coordinate pre-authorizations as needed.
• Answer calls and relay referrals to physicians or nurses.
