Job summary

Harris Regional Medical Center in Sylva, NC is seeking a Medical Assistant to support providers with patient assessments, specimen collection, and administrative duties in a busy oncology office setting.

Under supervision, you will maintain exam areas and EMR data entry, handle scheduling, and assist with imaging preauthorization. Eligibility requires high school diploma and BLS within 90 days; prior medical office experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Requires high school diploma or equivalent.
• Prior medical office experience preferred.
• BLS certification within 90 days of hire.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Under the supervision of provider, assists with performing patient assessments and treatments.
• Performs basic diagnostic procedures and specimen collection. Monitors and communicates changes in patient condition.
• Documents patient care given.
• Maintains examination areas.
• Maintains equipment and medical supplies, stocking, cleaning, and troubleshooting.
• Perform administrative or clerical duties as assigned, including filing, reception, scheduling, data entry, and patient registration.
• Prior authorizations for imaging including CT/MRI
• Data entry into EMR system
• Completes other tasks, within scope of position, as delegated by the practice leads, supervisors, managers or Market Director.
