Job summary

Compass Oncology, part of The US Oncology Network, seeks an LPN for full-time day shifts at the West Cancer Clinic in Tigard, OR. You will provide general nursing care under supervision, support patient education, and assist with procedures to ensure high-quality cancer care.

The role requires a licensed Practical Nurse with at least 3 years of experience, BLS, and ability to work within compliance standards.

Qualifications

  • Must have current LPN license and registration in practicing state.
  • Minimum 3 years of practical nurse experience.
  • BLS certification within 3 months of hire.
  • Phlebotomy experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Screen patients and collect information as required.
  • Administer treatments and assist with examinations.
  • Support physician during procedures and document patient data.
  • Monitor patient status and report changes to providers.
  • Initiate IV fluids and IV medications in accordance with state nurse practice act.
  • Ensure accurate records and smooth patient flow.

Scope

Under general supervision, provides general nursing care for patients following established standards and practices for the licensed practical nurse within the state of WA. This individual will promote efficient patient flow and assist with patient care adhering to the US Oncology Compliance Program, to include the Code of Ethics and Business Standards.

Employment Type: Full-Time, 40 Hours M-F

Location: West Cancer Clinic (Tigard, OR)

Salary Range: $26.41-$44.59 per hour

Responsibilities

Essential duties and Responsibilities:

  • Screen patients for appropriate information.
  • Administers treatments such as wound care, bladder scans, void trials, etc. in accordance with nursing standards.
  • Assists with the preparation of equipment and aids physician during examination and procedures.
  • Observes, records, and reports patient’s condition and reaction to drugs and treatments to providers.
  • Orders/prescribes medications as directed by provider.
  • Provides patient education, to include pre/post operative patient education on procedures, medications, and recovery expectations.
  • Responds to/refers incoming telephone calls. Instructs patient and family regarding medications and treatment instructions.
  • Recognizes when escalation is required to RN to maintain compliance with nurse practice act and state regulations for LPNs.
  • Records patient data prior to each physician visit, including but not limited to, vital signs, height, weight, allergies, and current medication reconciliation.
  • Performs EKG and oximetry readings as requested by the provider.
  • Send referrals, place orders, and request medical records as outlined by the provider.
  • Maintain patient files, records, and other information.
  • Initiate IV fluids and IV therapeutic medications in accordance with LPN/LVN state nurse practice act.
  • Participates in cross-training programs to develop skills across multiple areas of the practice and provide support where needed.
  • Demonstrates reliability and punctuality by consistently showing up on time and maintaining dependable attendance to support team operations and organizational goals.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Graduate from an accredited school for practical nursing.
  • This position requires at least 3 years’ experience as a practical nurse.
  • Phlebotomy experience preferred.
  • Current LPN state license and registration with the State Board of Practical Nursing in practicing state.
  • Current American Heart Association accredited BLS certification required within 3 months of hire.
