Job summary

Texas Oncology is seeking a Lab Assistant to join our team across Cedar Park, Marble Falls, Leander, Georgetown, Georgetown East, Round Rock North, and Harker Heights locations. This is a full-time Monday - Friday 8am-5pm position with no weekends, call, or major holidays.

This role may be level 1, 2 or Sr based on candidate experience. Responsibilities include collecting and processing specimens, maintaining equipment, and ensuring quality control.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Entry level; no experience required for Level 1.
• Phlebotomy experience preferred.
• Lab specimen processing and waived testing preferred.
• Level 2 requires minimum three years laboratory experience.
• Level Sr requires minimum five years laboratory experience.

Responsibilities

• Collects appropriate specimens from patients as ordered.
• Maintains proper documentation per QA program (logs, reports, quality control).
• Performs specimen analysis of chemistry, hematology, immunology as directed.
• Maintains adequate inventory of supplies and ensures viability of supplies.
• Preps patients (e.g., vital signs) as necessary.
• Assists with testing procedures per procedure guidelines.
• Sends specimens to reference labs as needed and processes results for charting.
• Updates and files daily paperwork and lab logs.
• Operates designated lab equipment and performs instrument maintenance.
• Performs CLIA-waived or moderately complex testing under supervision.
