Job summary

Tennessee Oncology PLLC is seeking a Laboratory Phlebotomist to collect patient specimens for laboratory testing in an outpatient setting. You will follow safety guidelines for blood and specimen handling, record test results, manage inventory, and support quality assurance initiatives across the clinic.

Ideal candidates have strong phlebotomy skills, prior experience in an outpatient facility, and a high school diploma.

Qualifications

• Excellent phlebotomy skills.
• Outpatient facility or physician office experience.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates ability to perform clean venipunctures.
• Demonstrates ability to perform capillary collections.
• Follows proper guidelines for safe handling of blood, body fluids and hazardous chemicals.
• Demonstrates knowledge of procedures and practices
• Demonstrates knowledge of ongoing quality assurance activities in the office and documents breaches of quality as they occur.
• Maintains appropriate inventory levels of reagents and supplies.
• Be capable of identifying problems that may adversely affect test performance or reporting of test results and either must correct the problems or immediately notify Clinic Operations Manager and Clinical Laboratory Operations Manager.
• Must be able to document all corrective actions taken when test systems deviate from laboratory's established performance specifications.
• Be able to document in charts for "lab only" visits.
• Have complete understanding of LIS; which includes ordering test, rejecting test, locating and printing result reports.
• Other duties as assigned.

2 years lab experience preferred
