Job summary

Minnesota Oncology is hiring a dedicated oncology nurse for a 0.9 FTE role serving Chaska, Waconia, Edina, and Burnsville clinics. You’ll deliver expert nursing care under physician supervision, manage therapies, venipuncture, and patient education while complying with ethical standards.

Requires 3+ years nursing experience with oncology exposure, RN license in good standing, BSN preferred, and active BLS. Join a team committed to patient-centered care and ongoing professional development.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited program for professional nursing education, BSN preferred.
• 3+ years nursing experience preferred, preferably at least one year in oncology.
• RN state license and current registration with the State Board of Nursing in practicing state.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Must maintain continuing education requirements.

Responsibilities

• Under general supervision, provides professional nursing care for patients adhering to national and company standards and guidelines for specialty regulations.
• Prepares and administers therapies under the direction and supervision of a physician.
• Administers all medications/blood products using correct medication/blood product, dosage/amount, route, time and technique.
• Assures pre-authorization and appropriate consent forms are obtained prior to administration of therapies where applicable.
• Facilitates dose modification by assessing patient, labs, protocol or treatment plan, calculating dose, and consulting physician.
• Performs venipuncture, accesses implanted ports and maintains central lines catheter devices.
• Maintains accurate documentation of assigned patient care and treatments provided.
• Applies knowledge of reimbursement procedures and charge capture.
• Programs portable infusion pumps for continuous drug delivery and provides instruction to patient/caregiver at home.
• Demonstrates knowledge of ambulatory infusion pump use and maintenance, cleaning pumps after use, and proper documentation of pump usage.
• Maintains work environment: restocks the supply area; follows OSHA guidelines for cytotoxic agents and hazardous waste; maintains disinfection protocols; maintains equipment per QC standards.
• Participates in professional development activities and maintains current knowledge of oncology nursing.
