Job summary

UCSF Pharmacy Services is seeking a Pharmacy Technician 2 to support the Department of Clinical Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Services across UCSF Health locations. The role involves medication preparation, distribution, and inventory management to ensure safe, accurate care for patients.

Responsibilities include coordinating deliveries, maintaining records, and interacting with clinicians. Requires CA-licensed technician with hospital experience; efficiency and accuracy are essential.

Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited Pharmacy Technician Training Program (hands-on externship).
• Minimum two years' experience as a Pharmacy Technician in hospitals/healthcare.
• Licensed Pharmacy Technician by the California Board of Pharmacy in good standing.
• Pharmacy Technician Certification (CPhT) preferred.
• Knowledge of USP 797/800, sterile compounding techniques preferred.
• Experience with Pyxis, MS Office tools and PEC is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Prepare patient medication orders, including unit dose, cartfill, IVs, chemotherapy and controlled substances.
• Ensure quality and integrity of medication preparations per standards and practice.
• Coordinate timely delivery and refill of medications to patient drawers and automated cabinets.
• Maintain knowledge of pharmacy automation and electronic health records.
• Maintain accurate records for drug inventory and control substances.
• Report discrepancies to nursing and pharmacist with proper documentation.
• Provide pharmaceutical care and interact with nurses, physicians and other providers.
• Triage provider issues via calls and in-basket messages and provide prompt service.
