Qualifications

Responsibilities

Conduct comprehensive assessments to evaluate the physiological, psychological, developmental, sociocultural, spiritual, and lifestyle factors of patients. Develop and implement individualized care plans based on patient needs and standards of care, regularly evaluating and revising these plans as necessary. Administer medications and treatments accurately and safely, following physician orders and hospital protocols, and monitor for adverse reactions. Educate patients and families about health conditions, treatments, medications, and self‑care strategies to promote understanding and compliance. Collaborate with medical staff and ancillary departments to coordinate and optimize patient care, ensuring effective communication and teamwork. Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient information, care activities, interventions, and outcomes in the medical record. Evaluate the effectiveness of care plans and interventions continuously, making necessary adjustments to improve patient health and achieve positive outcomes. Ensure compliance with infection control protocols, safety standards, and regulatory requirements to maintain a safe healthcare environment. Supervise and delegate care provided by members of the healthcare team to ensure quality and efficiency. Engage in continuous professional development and participate in performance improvement activities to enhance patient care and operational efficiency. Respond to code situations promptly and effectively, providing necessary interventions to stabilize patients.

Job Summary

The Oncology Infusion Nurse provides safe, high‑quality, and specialized care to patients receiving chemotherapy, biotherapy, and other intravenous treatments. This role involves comprehensive patient assessment, expert vascular access, monitoring for adverse reactions, and providing compassionate support to patients and caregivers.

Key Responsibilities

• Treatment Administration: Expertly administer chemotherapy, immunotherapy, blood products, and supportive care medications.
• Patient Monitoring: Continually assess patient status, monitor for infusion complications (e.g., allergic reactions), and respond to urgent situations.
• Assessment & Care Planning: Develop and implement individual patient care plans based on laboratory results and oncology protocols.
• Vascular Access: Insert, maintain, and assess peripherally inserted central catheters (PICCs), implanted ports, and peripheral IVs.
• Patient Education: Educate patients and caregivers regarding treatment plans, side effects, and home self‑care.
• Collaboration: Work with oncologists, pharmacists, and support staff to ensure safe, timely treatment delivery.
