Job summary

Mercy of St. Louis is seeking an RN for the Oncology Infusion Center to deliver safe, compassionate infusion therapy in an outpatient setting. You will work with a multidisciplinary team to assess patients, administer chemotherapy and supportive meds, monitor responses, and ensure precise documentation.

This role emphasizes patient education, teamwork, and adherence to oncology safety standards, with day shifts and a family-centered, supportive care approach central to Mercy's mission.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
• Current, valid RN license.
• CPR certification or ability to obtain within 90 days.
• Previous oncology experience is not required.

Responsibilities

• Assess patients before, during, and after infusion treatments.
• Administer chemotherapy, immunotherapy, blood products, hydration therapy, and other infusion medications.
• Monitor patients for treatment responses and adverse reactions.
• Access and maintain peripheral IVs, ports, and central lines.
• Collaborate with oncologists, advanced practice providers, pharmacists, and support staff to coordinate treatment plans.
• Educate patients and families on medications, side effects, symptom management, and ongoing care needs.
• Review laboratory results and communicate significant findings to the care team.
• Document assessments, treatments, and patient responses in the electronic health record.
• Maintain oncology treatment safety standards and infection prevention practices.
• Provide compassionate support to patients and families throughout the treatment process
