Qualifications

• Master's degree from an accredited genetic counseling program. Education will be verified.
• Genetic counseling certification from ABGC and state license eligible.
• Broad knowledge base of current developments in treating, diagnosing, and counseling in genetics.
• Excellent interpersonal and oral and written communication skills.
• Experience using Office tools (PowerPoint, Word, Excel, databases, internet and e-mail and scheduling applications).

Responsibilities

• Provides direct genetic counseling services to patients, applicable patient care specialists, and referring physicians.
• Completes interview history and counsels patients referred for genetic testing.
• Obtains medical records, prepares family pedigrees; analyzes genetic disorders related to patient care.
• Documents and records contact with patient, ancillary services, communications, and counseling; supports billing requirements.
• Participates in case conferences and contributes to education, supervision, and research opportunities.
