Job summary

Lehigh Valley Health Network (LVHN) is seeking a billing specialist with oncology experience to support the Cancer Institute Infusion Centers. You will review daily infusion schedules, obtain authorizations, and verify benefits while helping patients navigate financial aspects of care.

Work closely with Patient Financial Services to resolve denials and determine medical necessity, while guiding patients to resources and charity programs.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• At least 2 years in oncology settings.
• Ability to anticipate and relay patients' financial needs to appropriate personnel.
• Expert knowledge of third-party insurance benefits and billing.
• Maintain confidentiality and understand patient rights.
• Understand oncology treatments and related coverage rules.
• Demonstrate compassion with strong professional skills.

Responsibilities

• Review infusion schedule tasks for the Cancer Institute Infusion Centers and obtain authorizations.
• Collaborate with Patient Financial Services to resolve denials and ensure medical necessity.
• Assist patients with financial information and applications for assistance and charity programs.
• Refer patients to resources (PATHS, APPRISE) for Medicare supplements and cancer funds.
• Complete ABN waivers for off-label or non-covered services and present estimates to patients.
• Address denial work queues and communicate with Oncology departments as needed.
