Job summary

UVA Health is seeking an Oncology Enhanced Scheduler to coordinate complex oncology appointments across multiple services. This fully onsite role focuses on supporting the Emily Couric Clinical Cancer Center, with a Monday–Friday schedule and limited weekend coverage.

You will work within a highly collaborative oncology access team, coordinating care across physicians, APPs, nurses, pharmacists, and other clinicians to ensure timely access and seamless care coordination.

Qualifications

  • High School graduate or equivalent required.
  • 2+ years demonstrated experience in J2235 Patient Access O2.
  • CHAA or CRCR certification within 18 months of hire date.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate oncology appointments through Epic work queues.
  • Schedule infusion treatments, provider visits, imaging, labs, and supportive services.
  • Assist with infusion patient check-in and check-out activities.
  • Respond to patient calls and appointment inquiries with professionalism and compassion.
  • Collaborate with physicians, APPs, nurses, pharmacists, and care teams.
  • Ensure appointments align with treatment plans and clinical protocols.
  • Support patient flow and maximize infusion capacity and access to care.

As an Oncology Enhanced Scheduler, you will play a vital role in helping patients navigate their cancer journey while supporting a highly specialized oncology care team.

This position offers the opportunity to become an essential member of UVA Health's oncology access team, coordinating complex appointments across multiple specialties and treatment services. Working in a fast-paced, patient-centered environment, you will help improve access to care, support treatment planning, and contribute directly to the experience of patients receiving life-changing oncology services.

The Role

The Oncology Enhanced Scheduler serves as a centralized scheduling expert supporting oncology patients across the continuum of care. This role requires strong organizational skills, advanced scheduling knowledge, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate effectively with both patients and multidisciplinary clinical teams.

In an average day, you will:

  • Coordinate oncology appointments through Epic work queues.
  • Schedule infusion treatments, provider visits, imaging services, laboratory appointments, and supportive care services.
  • Assist with infusion patient check-in and check-out activities.
  • Respond to patient calls and appointment inquiries with professionalism and compassion.
  • Collaborate closely with physicians, advanced practice providers, nurses, pharmacists, and other care team members.
  • Ensure appointments are coordinated appropriately based on treatment plans and clinical protocols.
  • Support efficient patient flow and help maximize infusion capacity and access to care.
  • Communicate scheduling updates, changes, and care coordination details to patients and clinical partners.

fully onsite position supporting oncology operations primarily at the Emily Couric Clinical Cancer Center, with potential support across other oncology locations within the UVA Health network. The schedule is primarily Monday through Friday, with limited weekend and holiday coverage responsibilities.

Minimum Requirements

Education: High School Graduate or equivalent required.

Experience: 2+ years demonstrated experience in J2235 Patient Access O2.

License/Certification: Certified Health Care Access Associate (CHAA) or Certified Revenue Cycle Representative (CRCR) by Healthcare Financial Management Association (HFMA) required within 18 months of hire date.

Physical Demands

Job requires sitting for prolonged periods, frequently bending/stooping, reaching (overhead, extensive, repetitive) and repetitive motion: computer keyboard. Proficient communicative, auditory and visual skills; Attention to detail and ability to write legibly; Ability to lift/push/pull 20 - 50lbs.

The pay range for this role is $21.50 - $37.48 hourly. Individual compensation will be determined by the selected candidate's qualifications, previous work experience, and/or education.
