What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Implement and monitor procedures to comply with cancer registry requirements and program standards
- Identify, accession, and abstract new cancer cases in both inpatient and outpatient settings with high accuracy
- Review data for completeness and accuracy, pursuing missing data from various sources
- Manage and maintain lifetime follow-up data on all analytic patients in the Cancer Registry
- Ensure timely and accurate reporting of cancer data to relevant authorities
What is Required (Qualifications):
- Associate's Degree and 2+ years of experience in the Cancer Registry, including 1 year of abstraction experience as an Oncology Data Specialist in a hospital setting
- Required certification: Oncology Data Specialist (ODS)
- Strong understanding of clinical pathways and treatment types for cancer
- Exceptional attention to detail and data accuracy
- Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and data security
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Experience with quality improvement initiatives in a healthcare setting
- Knowledge of current trends and developments in oncology data management
- Familiarity with the National Association of Cancer Registrars (NCRA) education requirements
