Oncology Data Specialist - Full Time, Days, 100% Remote

Join the Tumor Registry program at the O’Neal Cancer Center, part of UAB Hospital, in partnership with Guidehouse! Our program advances cancer research and improves patient outcomes through comprehensive data collection and analysis. We seek a dedicated Oncology Data Specialist - Certified to review clinical documentation, extract data, and apply ICDO-O codes. This position is 100% remote.

Responsibilities
  • Translate medical terminology into standardized codes for diagnosis and treatment information
  • Code, stage, and enter data into the registry database using ICD-O, ICD-10-CM, AJCC TNM, SSDI, STORE, and SEER guidelines
  • Ensure compliance with reporting mandates for malignancies and benign tumors
  • Perform data quality control activities
  • Prepare data for annual reporting and collaborate on special studies
  • Maintain confidentiality and report any breaches
Qualifications
  • Graduate from an accredited Health Information Technology program
  • Certified as an Oncology Data Specialist (ODS) or CTR by NCRA
  • Minimum 5 years of tumor registry experience as an ODS/CTR
  • Experience in a Level 1 Trauma and COC-accredited hospital preferred
Skills
  • Proficiency in ICD-O, ICD-10-CM/PCS, DMS Coding
  • Knowledge of AJCC, TNM, STORE, SEER guidelines
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
Compensation and Benefits

The annual salary range is $68,000 - $113,000, depending on experience and qualifications. Benefits include health insurance, paid time off, retirement plans, tuition reimbursement, and more.
