Compensation Range: $34.88 - $44.65 per hour. Your rate of pay will be based on applicable experience.

The Oncology Data Specialist performs case finding, abstracts case information, performs follow-up procedures, and data entry. They assist in compiling registry data for the State and the National Cancer Data Bases and follow registry standards set by the State, SEER (Surveillance, Epidemiology and End Results Program), the American College of Surgeons, and the AJCC (American Joint Committee on Cancer).
Education / Training / Experience:
Oncology Data Specialist (ODS)
Knowledge of California Standards Volume 1, Standards for Oncology Entry (STORE) and SEER Program Coding and Staging Manual. Working knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy. Strong analytical and grammatical skills for effective communication, both verbal and written. Must have creativity, initiative, and critical thinking skills. Must show sensitivity to patients and maintain strict confidentiality. Ability to work independently, pay close attention to detail, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams. Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, and Internet. Ability to use Cancer Registry database and learn regulatory requirements of the position. Organizational and multitasking skills are essential. Must be able to fulfill the essential functions of the position.
