Responsibilities
  • Abstract data from medical record charts and complete abstracting codes using established guidelines
  • Support the Kentucky Cancer Registry by providing timely information to clinicians and ancillary personnel
  • Adhere to ACOS Standard 5.2 while maintaining assigned productivity standards
  • Engage in case finding and abstracting of cancer cases
  • Ensure compliance with educational and legal requirements related to cancer data
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree (BS) required
  • Minimum of 2 years of related experience in abstracting and case finding
  • Oncology Data Specialist (ODS) certification required within 3 years of hire
  • Proficient in medical terminology, human anatomy & physiology, and computer use
  • Ability to perform repetitive tasks including constant keyboarding and sitting at a computer for long periods
Preferred Qualifications
  • Current ODS certification
  • Experience specifically in abstracting and case finding for cancer cases
