What to Expect (Job Responsibilities)
- Provide assistance to clients and patients regarding insurance coverage, financial responsibilities, and billing inquiries
- Handle high call volumes, averaging approximately 75 calls per day
- Collaborate with other departments to resolve reimbursement opportunities
- Document telephone conversations clearly and accurately in respective systems
- Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA guidelines/regulations
What is Required (Qualifications)
- Associate's degree with at least 1+ year prior relevant work experience, or High School diploma/GED with at least 3+ years of relevant work experience
- Prior healthcare experience strongly preferred, particularly in medical billing and collection practices
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Computer proficiency with MS Windows, MS Office, and database experience
- Ability to interpret and apply understanding of insurance explanation of benefits (EOB)
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications)
- Knowledge of CPT and ICD10 codes highly preferred
- Medicare/Medicaid billing experience preferred
- Experience with Laboratory Billing and Laboratory Information System (LIS) desired
- Previous customer service experience preferred
- Bilingual in English and Spanish highly desirable
