Job summary

Texas Oncology in Houston is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant to join our team. The position supports the Houston location with typical hours Mon-Fri, 7:45am-5:00pm, and can be level 1, 2, or Sr based on experience.

The CMA will assist physicians, manage patient data, prepare exam rooms, and perform basic clinical and administrative duties within an oncology clinic, with LTIP eligibility and a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Certificate of graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program preferred.
• 0-3 years of experience in medical assisting or nursing assisting for entry level.
• Current BCLS certification required within 3 months of hire.
• Certified Medical Assistant preferred.
• Some state regulations may require specific certifications to work as a Medical Assistant.

Responsibilities

• Escort patients to and from exam rooms and treatment areas.
• Record patient data prior to visits (vital signs, height, weight, allergies, medication changes).
• Obtain necessary patient records as required by physician.
• Prepare and stock exam/treatment rooms and order supplies.
• Assist physicians with exams and procedures.
• Administer subcutaneous and intramuscular injections as delegated.
• Maintain exam/treatment room disinfection protocols.
• Answer patient phone calls and refer to physician or nurse/pharmacist.
• Enter orders under provider direction.
• Perform additional administrative duties as requested.
