Job summary

UC San Diego Health is seeking a Per Diem Clinical Social Worker II to provide comprehensive psychosocial services within Cancer Services. The role includes crisis intervention, adjustment support, psychoeducation, and linkage to resources for patients and families.

Educate, advocate, and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team across Hillcrest, La Jolla, Encinitas and Vista sites. Flexible hours Mon-Fri 8:00 am–4:30 pm support coverage needs.

Qualifications

• MSW from an accredited school.
• Minimum of two years post-MSW experience.
• Ability to communicate and influence effectively with all levels of staff, physicians, patients, and external constituents.
• Knowledge and abilities essential to the successful performance of the duties.
• Proven independent thinking, decision-making, problem-solving and prioritizing skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.

Responsibilities

• Perform psychosocial assessment and psychosocial support for patients.
• Provide crisis intervention, adjustment to illness, psychoeducation, and anticipatory guidance.
• Link patients to transportation, lodging, financial grants, and other resources.
• Educate and advocate for patients and families; collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and outside agencies.
• Cover cancer disease teams across Hillcrest, La Jolla, Encinitas and Vista as needed.
