Job summary

Bayhealth Medical Center is seeking an Oncology Clinical Pharmacy Specialist at the Sussex Campus Hospital to join the cancer care team. The pharmacist will collaborate with oncologists to optimize treatment plans and provide expert pharmacotherapy guidance across inpatient and outpatient settings.

The role includes serving as a subject matter expert, educating staff, precepting residents, and participating in service-line meetings to improve safety and outcomes in oncology care.

Qualifications

• Doctorate in Pharmacy with PGY-1 residency or equivalent (≥3 years) or PGY-2 Oncology residency (≥3 years)
• Licensed Pharmacist
• Board Certified Oncology Pharmacist
• Minimum 3 years hospital clinical training and 3 years of oncology training
• Preferred: PGY-2 ASHP-accredited Residency in Oncology; PGY-1 ASHP-accredited Residency with ≥3 years oncology experience; BPS Oncology certification

Responsibilities

• Establish collaborative practice with oncologists to support chemotherapy care inpatient and outpatient.
• Conduct staff development programs for pharmacy, nursing, oncologists and other professionals.
• Serve as oncology SME, answer drug information questions and review EHR oncology care plans.
• Round with oncology fellows, NPs and physicians to optimize therapy per guidelines.
• Provide patient-specific medication education using teach-back for oral and IV therapies.
• Review and update oncology care plans in the EHR.
• Identify and evaluate medication-related problems.
• Precept pharmacy residents and students.
• Participate in Oncology Service Line meetings to improve safety and quality.
• Promote cost-effective drug therapy and cost avoidance in the Oncology Service Line.
• All other duties as assigned.
