Job summary

START Center for Cancer Research in Los Angeles is seeking an Advanced Practice Provider to support early-phase oncology trials as a sub-investigator under the PI. The role focuses on screening, scheduling, protocol adherence, and coordinating care across nursing, pharmacy, and data management.

Candidates should have an APP degree and state licensure, at least 5 years in oncology care or research, and willingness to participate in Phase I trials.

Qualifications

• Advanced practice degree with current state licensure.
• Minimum of 5 years of oncology clinical care or oncology clinical research.
• Eligible and willing to serve as a sub-investigator on oncology clinical trials.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a sub-investigator on assigned early-phase clinical trials following training and delegation documentation.
• Conduct protocol-required physical examinations and study visits for patients in screening, on treatment, and in follow-up as delegated by the PI.
• Prepare comprehensive medical histories and clinical summaries ahead of new patient consults to support PI evaluation.
• Assist with screening activities prior to new patient visits, including chart review and protocol feasibility assessment.
• Support post-consent screening by assisting with protocol-specific screening questions and clarifications.
• Identify, document, and follow up on adverse events (AEs) and serious adverse events (SAEs) with PI and team.
• Serve as first point of clinical contact for the research team for day-to-day patient management and escalate as appropriate.
• Coordinate with nursing, pharmacy, CR coordinators, and data management to ensure safe, protocol-adherent care delivery.
