Job summary

New Mexico Department of Justice is seeking a Recreational Therapy Aide to provide on-unit recreational activities for patients in the Forensic Treatment Unit. You will support treatment teams, help design activities to develop skills for community reintegration, and participate in treatment planning.

Ideal candidates will have strong communication skills, program coordination experience, and experience working with mentally ill populations.

Qualifications

• Verbal and non-verbal communication skills are essential.
• Experience coordinating programs in clinical or hospital settings is required.
• Experience working with treatment teams in a hospital setting is preferred.
• Experience working with clients, residents, or patients who are mentally ill is essential.

Responsibilities

• Provide on-unit recreational classes/activities for FTU patients.
• Actively participate in treatment team meetings and contribute to care planning.
• Develop, review, and update treatment plans and perform initial assessments.
• Assist in implementing activities that help patients reintegrate into the community.
