Granby Ranch is seeking an On-Snow Ski & Ride School Supervisor to lead daily on-snow operations and ensure exceptional guest experiences. You will support instructors, promote PSIA/SRS standards, and manage safety and professional conduct across lessons.

You will oversee lesson lineups, assign instructors, coach in real-time, and coordinate scheduling and daily outdoor setup while upholding company values and safety protocols in a demanding mountain environment.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • PSIA or AASI Level 1 certification required; higher certifications preferred.
  • 2 years’ experience teaching snow sports lessons required.
  • At least 1 year of supervisory experience preferred.
  • Previous experience working with children is required.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the daily on-snow operations of the Ski School, ensuring guest satisfaction, high-quality instruction, and a safe learning environment.
  • Assign instructors to lessons based on certification, experience, teaching ability, and guest needs.
  • Provide on-snow leadership and coaching to instructors throughout the day.
  • Monitor lesson quality and adjust class assignments to improve guest experience.
  • Ensure lessons start and end on schedule and adhere to lesson timelines.

Reports To: Ski & Ride School Manager
Department: Ski & Ride School
Status: Full-Time, Seasonal

Salary Range: $23 -$25 per hour

POSITION SUMMARY:

The On-Snow Ski & Ride School (SRS) Supervisor is responsible for leading the daily on-snow operations of the Ski School while ensuring exceptional guest experiences, high-quality instruction, and a safe learning environment. This position provides leadership and support to instructors, promotes the instructional standards of PSIA and the Ski School, and serves as the primary on-snow resource for operational decisions, instructor development, and guest concerns. The On-Snow Supervisor is expected to lead by example, uphold company values, and maintain safety, professionalism, and excellent communication in all aspects of the operation.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
  • Oversee and manage the daily lesson lineup, ensuring guests are placed into the appropriate lesson based on age, ability, and individual needs.
  • Assign instructors to lessons based on certification level, experience, teaching ability, and guest needs.
  • Provide on-snow leadership and operational support to instructors throughout the day.
  • Assist instructors with class splits, lesson adjustments, and other operational changes as needed.
  • Observe lessons and provide constructive coaching and real-time feedback to instructors in a professional and appropriate setting.
  • Monitor lesson quality and make adjustments to class assignments or groupings to improve guest experience and instructional effectiveness.
  • Ensure lessons begin and end on schedule and that instructors adhere to established lesson timelines.
  • Promote and enforce PSIA teaching standards and SRS operating procedures.
  • Prioritize guest and employee safety by monitoring on-snow operations and addressing hazards or unsafe behaviors.
  • Respond to and resolve guest concerns, complaints, and service issues in a professional and timely manner.
  • Mediate and resolve conflicts between instructors, guests, and other departments as appropriate.
  • Address minor employee performance and policy issues through coaching and corrective action while communicating significant disciplinary concerns to SRS management.
  • Communicate important operational updates, incidents, and safety concerns to SRS management.
  • Assist with daily instructor scheduling and staffing adjustments to meet operational needs.
  • Assist with morning outdoor setup to ensure lesson meeting areas are organized, safe, and prepared for daily operations.
  • Maintain a visible presence throughout the SRS operating area to support instructors and ensure smooth daily operations.
  • Lead by example by demonstrating professionalism, exceptional guest service, effective communication, and adherence to company policies and values.
  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures, including professional appearance standards, dress code, teaching standards, guest service expectations, and drug and alcohol policies.
  • Work collaboratively with the SRS Base Supervisor to ensure seamless communication and efficient daily operations between indoor and outdoor SRS functions.?
  • Adhere to and enforce child safety laws and mandated reporting.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support SRS operations.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Plan for future growth and events based on real-time observations.
  • Teach lessons when required during high volume days.
  • Act as a positive, professional role model, adhering to the company’s hospitality standards.
  • Assist and support other departments for events and operations on high volume days.
  • Maintain a high level of communication with management and instructors.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES:
  • Must be able to ski or snowboard at a double black diamond level. Proficiency in both disciplines is not required but preferred.
  • Must have strong communication skills and interact courteously with staff and guests.
  • Must have knowledge of PSIA/AASI teaching methods.
  • Must exhibit excellent leadership skills.
  • Ability to supervise in a rapidly changing environment.
  • Ability to maintain a positive attitude when communicating with guests, students, and staff.
  • Giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times.
  • Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.
  • Actively looking for ways to help people.
  • Ability to speak, read, write in English fluently. Ability to speak, read or write in Spanish is preferred.
  • Communicating effectively in writing as appropriate for the needs of the audience.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND CERTIFICATIONS:
  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • College degree preferred.
  • PSIA or AASI Level 1 certification required. Any further certifications are preferred.
  • 2 years’ experience teaching snow sports lessons required.
  • At least 1 year of supervisory experience is preferred.
  • Previous experience working with children is required.
  • Must be 21 years of age or older.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS:
  • Must be physically capable of performing strenuous exercise at 8,000-10,000 feet with adverse weather conditions.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50lbs.
  • Verbal and auditory abilities necessary for communication with others.
  • Dexterity for computer skills, writing, and gear adjustment.
  • Provide own ski/ride equipment, clothing, and accessories necessary for working outdoors in a high alpine winter environment other than uniform and other provided equipment.
  • Weekend and holiday work are required.
