Job summary

Dayton T. Brown, Inc. is seeking a Technical Illustrator for our Cincinnati, OH area technical publications team.

This on-site role requires collaboration with engineers, designers, and technical writers to create detailed 2D/3D illustrations from CAD data and specifications. The ideal candidate will have 3+ years in technical illustration for commercial or military programs, a portfolio, and proficiency in Illustrator/Photoshop and CAD tools like SolidWorks or AutoCAD.

Qualifications

2 or 4-year degree/or equivalent experience.
3+ years' experience developing technical illustrations for commercial or military programs (SVG, CGM, etc.).
Experience as a Technical Illustrator, Graphic Designer, or a similar role.
Portfolio showcasing technical illustration work.
Proficiency in illustration and design tools such as Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar).
Solid understanding of engineering drawings and 3D modeling principles.
Familiar with S1000D specification.
Excellent attention to detail and ability to simplify complex technical concepts.
Strong organizational and communication skills.
Strong relationship-building, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
Strong computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
US Citizenship - Required
Security Clearance- Active Secret - Required, or the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Secret security clearance.

Responsibilities

Develop detailed technical drawings and illustrations from engineering data, CAD models, and technical specifications.
Create 2D illustrations from 3D models, photos, and documents.
Collaborate with engineers, designers, and writers to translate requirements into visuals.
Ensure consistency with standards and customer specifications.
Create exploded views, assembly drawings, cutaway views, and schematics.
Optimize illustrations for print, digital, and web formats.
Manage multiple projects and deadlines with high quality.
Review customer comments and redlines and coordinate resolutions.
Interface with writers to clarify illustration requirements.
Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
