Job summary

Strategic Data Systems, Inc. (SDS), a growing federal contractor based in Keller, TX, is seeking a Staff Accountant to join our hands-on finance team. The role emphasizes government contract compliance (FAR/DFARS) and GAAP, with opportunities to impact daily operations and long-term growth.

You will manage core accounting functions, support cost accounting and billing for contracts, and collaborate across departments in a small-business environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or CMA preferred).
• 1-3 years of progressive accounting experience; government contracting a plus.
• Knowledge of GAAP, FAR, DFARS, and Cost Accounting Standards.
• Experience with Deltek Costpoint is preferred
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage daily and monthly accounting operations (AP/AR, payroll, GL, budgeting, accruals).
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
• Maintain DCAA-compliant accounting systems and cost accounting.
• Oversee project cost tracking, billing, and revenue recognition per contract terms.
• Assist in developing and monitoring budgets, forecasts, and cash flow projections.
• Ensure compliance with GAAP and FAR/DFARS regulations.
• Support proposal pricing, cost-volume development, and indirect rate preparation.
