Rutgers University is seeking a Classroom Assistant II for the Douglass Developmental Disabilities Center in Piscataway, NJ. The role supports a certified special education teacher and helps implement educational and behavioral programming for students with developmental disabilities.

The position requires high school education, CPR/First Aid certification, and the ability to work on-site; duties include crisis management and assisting with the care and instruction of students in a school

Qualifications

• High school/vocational education or equivalent; experience with children preferred.
• Ability to communicate effectively with students, staff, and families; supportive instruction.
• Ability to record and maintain data in computerized and non-computerized formats; use of instructional tools.

Responsibilities

• Assist certified special education teachers with educational and behavioral programming.
• Support classrooms of students with developmental disabilities, including crisis management techniques.
• Assist in providing educational and/or behavioral programs for students from pre-kindergarten through 12th grade.
