Job summary

Peraton is seeking a Software Developer - SME to design, build, and enhance cloud-enabled software for FAA programs under the BNATCS contract. You will collaborate with engineers, cybersecurity, and stakeholders to deliver secure, scalable aviation solutions with rigorous standards.

The role is 100% on-site, primarily in Herndon, VA, with an alternate location in Bowie, MD. Candidates must meet citizenship and clearance requirements and bring cloud, API, and microservices experience.

Qualifications

• U.S. Citizenship required.
• Must obtain/maintain Public Trust clearance.
• Cloud experience in AWS/Azure/GCP and cloud/hybrid apps.
• Proficient in Java/Spring Boot/Angular/PL/SQL.
• Experience with RESTful APIs and microservices.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain cloud-enabled applications for FAA programs.
• Support technical design activities and architecture reviews.
• Translate requirements into structured code and tests.
• Conduct peer code reviews for standards adherence.
• Collaborate with engineers, cybersecurity, and stakeholders.
• Develop unit/integration/regression tests and CI/CD integration.
• Troubleshoot defects and performance issues across systems.
• Contribute technical documentation and compliance materials.
• Ensure alignment with security standards and federal requirements.
• Participate in V&V, readiness reviews, and modernization initiatives.
• Identify opportunities to improve development processes and automation.
