Job summary

Software Placement Group seeks a Senior Estimator to lead estimates and bid preparation for major heavy civil projects in Southern California. You will interpret Caltrans specs, develop detailed takeoffs, and price labor, equipment, materials, and subs, coordinating with DBE/UDBE partners to ensure comprehensive coverage.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of heavy civil construction estimating experience.
• Proven experience estimating Caltrans highway and public works projects in California.
• Knowledge of Caltrans specifications, plans, bid requirements, and construction standards.
• Understanding of earthwork, grading, paving, utilities, and roadway construction.
• Experience developing production-based estimates using labor and equipment crews.
• Ability to analyze complex plans, specs, schedules, and contract requirements.
• Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and negotiation skills.
• Ability to manage multiple estimates to meet bid deadlines for public agencies.

Responsibilities

• Lead preparation of detailed estimates and bids for large-scale heavy civil projects.
• Review Caltrans specifications, plans, and contract documents.
• Perform quantity takeoffs and develop pricing for labor, equipment, materials, and subs.
• Develop crew-based production rates for high-production grading, excavation, paving, and civil operations.
• Coordinate with DBE/UDBE subcontractors and vendors to meet public works requirements.
• Support bid reviews and final pricing strategy with senior management.
