Job summary

IEM in Jacksonville, FL is seeking a Senior Buyer to source, negotiate, and purchase materials to meet operational needs. This role reports into the Purchasing Manager and collaborates with Engineering, Quality, Customer Service, and Program Management to ensure cost-effectiveness and high quality.

The position is in-office only, with emphasis on strategic procurement, supplier relations, and continuous improvement of the procurement process to support fast-paced manufacturing.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain or Operations Management
• At least 5 years of purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
• Exceptional organizational skills
• Ability to engage and collaborate with all levels of the organization
• Ability to effectively drive continuous improvement initiatives
• Fundamental understanding of Lean principles
• Strong business acumen
• Proven ability to evaluate information and make timely decisions

Responsibilities

• Understand demand requirements to make strategic procurement decisions.
• Analyze and mitigate supply chain risks; present options to management.
• Issue purchase orders, expediting orders, and resolve discrepancies.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Quality, and other teams to improve procurement.
• Evaluate vendor performance on quality, delivery, and cost.
• Maintain supplier relationships and ensure material availability.
• Support data-driven decisions and lead continuous improvement.
