Job summary

Gulf Capital Bank is seeking a Security Engineer (On-site) in Houston, TX to own Palo Alto firewall infrastructure and security tooling. You’ll support Microsoft Defender, Sentinel, Entra ID, and vulnerability management while sustaining secure banking operations.

Responsibilities include firewall administration, VPN configuration, incident response, and audit support. Applicants should have 3–5 years in IT/cybersecurity and hands-on firewall experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Computer Science, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 3 to 5 years of information technology or cybersecurity experience.
• 2+ years of hands‑on firewall administration experience.
• Experience troubleshooting enterprise networking and security technologies.
• Windows Server and Active Directory environments knowledge.
• TCP/IP networking concepts understanding.
• Palo Alto firewall administration, VPN and routing fundamentals.
• Security logging, network segmentation, vulnerability management concepts.
• Windows administration and Microsoft 365 administration basics, and security incident response.

Responsibilities

• Administer, maintain, and support Palo Alto Networks firewalls across Bank environments.
• Manage firewall policies, security rule requests, NAT configurations, and object administration.
• Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot site-to-site and remote-access VPN connectivity.
• Monitor firewall health, performance, capacity, and availability.
• Perform log analysis and traffic review to identify malicious activity and policy violations.
• Implement security policy changes per change management procedures.
• Maintain network segmentation controls for secure banking operations.
• Configure Palo Alto security services including Threat Prevention and GlobalProtect.
• Complete firewall software upgrades, content updates, and security patching.
• Support network architecture reviews with security design recommendations.
