Job summary

Akima Global Logistics (AGL), an Akima company, seeks a Site Safety & Health Officer (SSHO) to lead safety programs for DoD contracts at NSA Annapolis and Naval Academy. You will enforce the APP, conduct audits, and provide guidance to managers, supervisors, and workers to maintain a safe, compliant site.

The role requires ON-SITE presence, OSHA 30-hour construction safety, and ongoing competency development aligned with EM 385-1-1 and NAVFAC guidelines.

Qualifications

• Must obtain and maintain a favorable NACI clearance.
• High school diploma required.
• Must meet SSHO qualification requirements of EM 385-1-1 (training, experience, certification).
• Five years of satisfactory SSHO experience on contracts of similar size/complexity (or 3 years with CSP or safety degree).
• Experience on Base Operations Support (BOS) projects of $10M+ annual value; knowledge of at least one utilities discipline.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, implement, administer, and enforce the Contractor's safety program and APP.
• Ensure compliance with EM 385-1-1 and OSHA regulations.
• Serve as on-site safety authority and OSHA Competent Person.
• Develop and deliver safety training for project personnel.
• Conduct on-site safety inspections, audits, and hazard assessments.
• Coordinate Competent Person credentials for review/acceptance.
• Interface with regulatory agencies and project leadership on safety matters.
• Chair safety meetings and promote a proactive safety culture.
