Job summary

Ameritech Contracting is seeking a Field Site Safety & Health Officer (SSHO) to advance safety across all assigned operations. The SSHO will promote the Accident Prevention Plan and Corporate Safety Program, conduct inspections, audits, and safety training, and help grow the safety culture on the project.

The role requires OSHA 30-Hour Construction Certification (or equivalent), plus significant construction safety experience and related certifications or degree.

Qualifications

• OSHA 30-Hour Construction Certification updated within the last 5 years.
• Five (5) years of construction safety experience within the last 10 years.
• OR three (3) years of construction safety experience with CSP or CSHT certification or a safety-related degree.

Responsibilities

• Conduct frequent and regular safety inspections of the site and subcontractors’ operations.
• Coordinate with project management and report findings weekly to the ACE Contracting Officer Representative.
• Monitor on-site safety during excavation/trenching activity and ensure proper permit completion.
• Lead toolbox talks and safety meetings; provide safety training to staff and subcontractors.
• Assist with Medical Surveillance programs and safety documentation/reporting across projects.
• Mentor field personnel and subcontractor safety staff on safety best practices and culture.

Education

OSHA 30-Hour Construction Certification

CSP (Certified Safety Professional)

CSHT (Construction Safety and Health Technician)

Safety degree (B.S. or higher)
