Job summary

DePaul University is seeking a Residence Director to lead living-learning environments for ~2,500 residents on the Lincoln Park Campus. This full-time role supports student development, conducts staff supervision, and oversees budget management with a focus on Vincentian values such as social justice and inclusion.

The position is within the Department of Housing and Residence Life, includes on-call duties, and requires a bachelor's degree (master's preferred) with prior residence life

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; Master's preferred in College Student Personnel, Higher Education/Student Affairs, or related field.
• Experience in residence life and/or student affairs.
• Experience supervising paraprofessional staff, graduate supervisors, and student leaders.
• Proven leadership and collaboration with colleagues and students inside and outside Student Affairs.
• Commitment to social justice and service.
• Crisis management skills.
• Willingness to reside in the assigned residence hall community (furnished 2-bedroom apartment).
• Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, Access, Windows, Teams, Zoom, Maxient, StarRez, and Salesforce.
• Strong written and verbal communication; ability to work in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
• Commitment to identity, inclusion and social change.

Responsibilities

• Supervises, recruits, trains, and evaluates personnel in residence halls.
• Manages day-to-day operations and maintains relationships with desk, Area Coordinators, and offices.
• Provides conflict mediation, crisis intervention, and on-call emergency response.
• Oversees educational opportunities, learning communities, and academic support initiatives.
• Serves as Conduct Hearing Officer and handles student conduct cases.
• Oversees summer assignments and collaborates with campus groups.
• Oversees housing facilities, maintenance, and damage billing in coordination with operations teams.
• Provides guidance and referrals regarding academic, housing, and personal concerns.
• Participates in departmental and divisional committees.
• Supports Vincentian mission and social justice values.
