Job summary

The University of Miami is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant 1 to work on-site at the UHealth campus in Miami, FL. The role supports physicians by preparing examination rooms, handling vitals, charting, and performing venipuncture and routine lab tasks.

Qualified candidates hold CMA, RMA, CCMA, NCMA, or NRCMA certifications, with Bahavior Heart Association BLS; HIV/AIDS CE Certification is a plus. Per-diem/full-time temporary position with flexible scheduling to include evenings or weekends.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of 1 year previous experience.
• Approved MA Certifications: CMA, RMA, CCMA, NCMA, NRCMA.
• American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) for healthcare providers.
• HIV & AIDS Certification: Florida HIV/AIDS Healthcare Professional CE Certification.
• Computer skills required.

Responsibilities

• Gives injections and treatments and performs routine laboratory tests.
• Assists in patient care activities such as dressing changes and leg wraps.
• Prepares treatment room for examination and assists with physical examinations.
• Provides patients with basic instruction regarding examination procedures.
• Cleans and sterilizes medical instruments and maintains sterile technique.
• Schedules tests and completes laboratory forms; maintains patient records and documentation.
• Orders, stocks, and inventories supplies; assists in clerical duties.
• Escorts and transports patients within the hospital.
