Job summary

BME Fire Trucks is seeking experienced Mechanical Technicians to support chassis assembly for wildland fire apparatus in Boise, Idaho. The role focuses on mounting components like bumpers, rear steps, and the water pump to ensure a safe, reliable vehicle.

This full-time on-site position requires hands-on skills with tools and equipment, strong diagnostic abilities, and the stamina to lift up to 100 pounds. A clear safety record and basic apprenticeship credentials are preferred.

Qualifications

• Background in automotive or diesel mechanics.
• Basic math skills with ability to read tape measure.
• Ability to lift up to 100 pounds.
• Ability to stand, bend, stoop, squat, or kneel regularly and climb stairs/ladders.
• Pass a drug test and a criminal background check.
• High school or adult mechanic’s course.
• Mechapprenticeship.
• Excellent diagnostic skills.
• Ability to use plasma torch.
• Experience with hand and power tools.
• Experience with DOT airline fittings, PTO gear boxes, drivelines.
• Hands-on experience with impacts, drills, plasma torches, magnetic drills.
• Dependability.

• Self-Drive.
