Job summary

BC Wood in Ashland, VA seeks a Controller to own financial operations and join the leadership team. This on-site role partners with the CFO and leads a growing front office team, driving accurate accounting, reporting, and controls in a manufacturing environment.

You will oversee GL, AP/AR, payroll, monthly financials, tax filings with the CPA, and analytics to guide pricing and profitability. A Bachelor's in Accounting/Finance and strong Excel/GAAP skills are required, with 3–7 years in

Qualifications

3–7 years in manufacturing or production accounting within a small-to-medium business.
Strong Excel skills, ability to build models and pull insights.
Solid understanding of GAAP and ERP/manufacturing accounting software.
Evidence of scrappy, effective problem-solving in a hands-on role.
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.

Responsibilities

Oversee accounting functions: general ledger, AP/AR, payroll, bank reconciliations.
Prepare monthly statements (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow) and variance analysis.
Coordinate with CPA on annual tax filings and compliance reporting.
Lead leadership team financial reviews and quarterly planning.
Monitor manufacturing costs, inventory valuations, and pricing-driven profitability.
