Job summary

UT Health San Antonio is seeking an apprentice-level maintenance assistant under direct supervision to support skilled trades workers in a variety of maintenance and repair tasks. You will assist with installations, repairs, and routine equipment replacement, and help keep work areas clean and orderly.

This entry-level role requires a high school diploma, a mechanical aptitude, and the ability to follow safety rules and written and verbal instructions.

Qualifications

• Possesses mechanical aptitude and a willingness to learn building construction, equipment maintenance and repair.
• Ability to perform all work in accordance with established safety procedures.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Self-motivated and directed; ability to absorb new ideas and concepts quickly.

Responsibilities

• Assists skilled trade workers with routine installations, repairs, construction and replacement of equipment.
• Assists trade personnel in the performance of maintenance and repairs that are unique to the craft area assigned.
• Cleans and paints equipment and structures as directed.
• Performs area housekeeping.
• Performs similar semi-skilled duties within the assigned craft area and trains for higher level positions.
• Performs all other duties as assigned.
