Job summary

Software Placement Group in Charlotte, NC is seeking an experienced CMM Programmer/Inspector to lead and grow the inspection function in a precision manufacturing environment.

You will program and operate CMMs, interpret drawings and GD&T, develop inspection plans, and help select a new CMM system, with ZEISS preferred. This on-site role offers space to shape processes and drive quality.

Qualifications

• Proven ability to program and operate CMM equipment in precision manufacturing.
• Strong reading of engineering drawings and GD&T.
• Experience inspecting close-tolerance machined components.

Responsibilities

• Create, edit, and optimize CMM inspection programs for precision parts.
• Set up and operate CMM equipment for dimensional inspections.
• Interpret drawings, GD&T, and customer quality requirements.
• Develop inspection strategies, setups, and routines.
• Perform first-article, in-process, and final inspections.
• Investigate measurement discrepancies and identify causes.
• Document inspection methods for consistency and traceability.
• Prepare inspection reports and communicate findings to production leadership.
• Assist in selecting and implementing a new CMM system, with ZEISS favored.
• Establish programming standards, calibration, and procedures.
• Recommend additional inspection equipment, software, and tooling.
• Collaborate with machinists and leadership to resolve quality issues.
• Train inspection personnel as the dept grows.
• Help build a robust inspection function meeting quality standards.
