Job summary

Cummins Inc. in Columbus, IN is seeking an Instrumentation Engineering Technician to support engine test cells and instrumentation systems. The role involves configuring data acquisition, performing performance tests, and building or inspecting test articles with precision.

You will work closely with engineers, technicians and apprentices in a hands-on environment, applying safety policies and quality procedures while delivering thorough test reports and actionable recommendations.

Qualifications

• Basic mechanical, electrical or instrumentation troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to follow procedures, document work clearly and use digital tools.
• Strong sense of urgency, teamwork and ability to work in a fast-paced test-cell environment.

Responsibilities

• Conducts performance and reliability testing on engines, components, systems, and controls; diagnoses issues and initiates resolutions.
• Configures and operates data acquisition systems; analyzes data and writes analysis programs.
• Performs rig, engine and component builds, tear down and inspections; fabricates piping and brackets from drawings.
• Installs engines and instrumentation in test cells and rigs; uses Calterm, Asset, Cyflex.
• Creates test plans, documents findings and prepares test reports.
