Job summary

Life Fitness / Hammer Strength is seeking an on-site Human Resources Generalist for our Owatonna, MN manufacturing facility. You will lead hourly recruiting, manage staffing agencies, and provide front-line HR support for 400–450 team members.

You’ll partner with operations leaders on workforce planning, onboarding, and policy guidance while upholding confidentiality and compliance with employment laws. This role includes payroll backup and participation in continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years of HR experience in manufacturing, production, or similar environment.
• Experience recruiting hourly manufacturing, production, warehouse, or distribution staff.
• Experience managing staffing agency relationships and contingent workforce programs.
• Knowledge of employment law and team member relations practices.
• Strong communication, coaching, conflict resolution, and relationship-building skills.
• Confidentiality and sound judgement in handling sensitive information.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel.

Responsibilities

• Lead full-cycle recruiting for hourly manufacturing positions.
• Manage staffing agency partnerships and contingent workforce programs to meet production staffing needs.
• Partner with leaders on workforce planning, recruiting strategies, and staffing priorities.
• Facilitate onboarding and orientation for new hires.
• Serve as a trusted resource on HR policies, benefits, payroll, and workplace concerns.
• Investigate and resolve team member relations issues with professionalism and confidentiality.
• Coach supervisors on performance management, attendance, and HR best practices.
• Support employee engagement initiatives and culture-building activities.
• Maintain accurate HR records and ensure compliance with employment laws.
• Support HR reporting, projects, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Provide backup support for payroll and timekeeping.
