Job summary

HCPS invites applicants to join the Food Service Equipment and Refrigeration Apprenticeship under the Central Office – Food and Nutrition. The program targets 11th and 12th graders to learn on-site, earning while learning, with 450 hours to complete before graduation.

Apprentices will cross-train in kitchen operations, basic repairs, and equipment maintenance, gaining hands-on experience in HCPS kitchens.

Qualifications

• Able to follow oral and written procedures.
• Physically capable of lifting up to 50 pounds.
• Basic electrical maintenance knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Review daily work orders and participate in morning debriefing with supervisor.
• Assist with repairs and maintenance of gas and electric equipment including dishwashers, ovens, and hot water boosters.
• Help with repairs and maintenance of plumbing/hydraulic systems related to dishwashers and steam equipment.
• Assist with refrigeration equipment maintenance (walk-ins, reach-ins, freezers).
• Support with installation/removal of equipment and perform preventive maintenance.
