Job summary

Tectonic Engineering Consultants, Geologists & Land Surveyors, DPC invites applications for an Entry Level Construction Inspector (Trainee). The role is based in Newburgh, NY, on-site, with a focus on monitoring construction operations, collecting samples, and verifying compliance with project plans and industry standards.

Ideal candidates have a HS diploma or equivalent and are prepared to complete OSHA 10-hour training.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or equivalent; outdoor labor/field knowledge preferred.
• Ability to complete OSHA 10 Hour Construction Safety and Health Training after commencement of employment.
• Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors, clients, contractors and inspectors about specs and test results.
• Ability to record project data and complete field inspection reports and documentation.
• Ability to review industry standards, plans and specifications and recognize deficiencies.
• Requires a valid driver's license and transportation for daily travel to sites.

Responsibilities

• Traveling to various field project sites.
• Monitoring construction operations.
• Collecting material samples as needed and when applicable.
• Using field testing equipment to verify compliance with plans and specs.
• Reviewing approved plans, specs, and submittals for inspection requirements.
• Processing daily field reports and inspection reports; notifying discrepancies.
• Communicating with project managers, colleagues, and contractors as required.
