Job summary

Colorado State University’s Center for Environmental Management of Military Lands (CEMML) seeks an Entry-Level Environmental Compliance Specialist to support the Environmental Division at Fort A.P. Hill, Virginia.

Embedded with the installation, you will help ensure compliance with federal, state, and local environmental requirements while assisting in permitting, monitoring, and training documentation. The role emphasizes data management, regulatory reporting, and field inspections, with

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, environmental studies, environmental engineering, biology, chemistry, natural resources management or closely related field.
• Two+ years of fieldwork experience preferred.
• Knowledge of DoD/environmental regulations and permit processes is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assist with environmental compliance inspections of training areas, ranges, industrial facilities, motor pools, and construction sites.
• Collect and maintain environmental compliance records (inspections, stormwater data, air emissions, training docs).
• Support preparation and submission of permits, reports, and regulatory documentation to EPA, DEQ, and other agencies.
• Assist with SWPPP, SPCC, and Hazardous Waste Management Plan updates.
• Perform data entry and basic analysis using Excel and Army tracking systems.
• Support incident response documentation and reporting; communicate regulatory requirements to installation personnel.
