Job summary

Ascension Saint Thomas is hiring for a PRN emergency medical technician role in Nashville, TN. The incumbent provides on-scene patient care, evaluates injuries, transports patients, and supports the primary RN by communicating findings and patient status. Minimum qualifications include BLS, TN driver’s license, and EMT/EMT-B credentials. A High School diploma or equivalent with some experience or an Associate/Technical degree

Qualifications

• BLS Provider certification within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• Drivers License credentialed from the Tennessee Bureau of Motor Vehicles obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.
• Advanced Emergency Medical Tech credentialed from the Tennessee Emergency Medical Services Division obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required. Or Emergency Medical Tech-Basic (EMT-B) required.

Responsibilities

• Provide support treatment, care and evaluation of patients on scene and during transport.
• Arrive to the scene of an emergency, determine the situation, and develop a plan of action.
• Use appropriate medical equipment and comprehend the severity of the injury.
• Monitor patient condition and perform data collection.
• Communicate findings and patient condition to primary Registered Nurse (RN)

Education

High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience

Associate's degree/Technical degree

4 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience
