Job summary

Pragmatic is seeking a Firmware Engineer to design, develop and test embedded firmware for medical devices in Houston. You will collaborate with an experienced team to build regulated software from concept through release, ensuring robust device communications and adherence to quality standards.

The role requires 2–3 years of embedded firmware experience, strong C/C++, and the ability to work onsite in Houston, TX 77045. Relocation support may be available for the right candidate.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering.
• 2–3 years of embedded firmware development experience.
• Strong C/C++ proficiency.
• JTAG programming, board bring-up and driver development; read schematics with EE team.
• Experience in a regulated, paperwork-heavy environment is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and unit-test embedded firmware in C/C++ within an agile environment.
• Work from schematics and support board bring-up and driver development with the EE team.
• Build and integrate secure device communications (BLE, Wi‑Fi, LTE-M).
• Take firmware through verification, validation and move to manufacturing.
• Maintain documentation per ISO 13485 / cGMP quality system.
